Signs of domestic violence

Article
In many cases, domestic violence doesn't start with physical violence right away. It's often a gradual process.
The signs of domestic violence can be multifaceted. Some examples are:
  • No time or permission to meet with relatives, friends, colleagues
  • Decisions can only be made after consulting with the partner
  • No personal financial resources available
  • Threats to injure the person concerned or their children, friends, relatives, or pets
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Psychological problems such as sleep disorders, depression or addictive behavior, and suicidal thoughts
  • Physical injuries (e.g. a black eye)
  • Frequent miscarriages and physical injuries during pregnancy
  • Partner who acts in a very controlled manner
  • Partner who does not leave the person's side, insults the person and/or makes them look bad in front of others
  • Partner who harasses or terrorizes the person during a separation
If you recognize these warning signs in you or the people around you, you should act immediately and seek professional assistance.
